- How does PNG compression work here?
- It reduces the image to a well-chosen palette of up to 256 colors (usually impossible to tell apart), then OxiPNG packs the file as tightly as possible.
- Can I compress PNG without any quality loss?
- Yes. Turn off "Reduce PNG colors" for lossless compression. Files shrink less, but every pixel stays identical.
- Is transparency kept?
- Yes. PNG output keeps transparent backgrounds. Converting to JPG would put them on white, since JPG has no transparency.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Every image is processed by your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
