75
75 is a good balance for photos. Lower means smaller files. Applies to JPG, WebP, and AVIF.
Longest side. Phone photos are often 4000 px or more, and resizing saves the most.
Frequently asked questions
- How much smaller will my JPG get?
- Typically 40–70% for photos straight from a phone or camera. Photos that were already compressed shrink less; if one wouldn't get smaller, you get the original back.
- What quality should I use?
- 75 is a good default for photos. Go down to 60 for much smaller files, or up to 85+ for printing. Use "Hold to see original" to compare.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Every image is processed by your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
